The FIA GT1 World Championship emerged out of the FIA GT Championship. The FIA GT Championship was a battle between GT1 and GT2 cars.
In 2010 the SRO (Stéphane Ratel Organisation) created a new racing format that has been approved by the FIA as an official FIA World Championship. In this championship GT1 cars of prestigious sportscar brands will compete against eachother.
Each brand has to be represented by 4 cars or 2 teams with 2 cars per team. Each season has 10 rounds on the most beautiful and exciting racing tracks all around the world.
